How to Obtain Paragliding THK P2 Certificate and T2 Certificate?
Paragliding - tandem paragliding is a type of nature sport in which the passenger and the pilot fly together, but the pilot has all the control of the parachute. All flights are licensed by THK, that is, people who have completed their training, exams and certification processes can become paragliding pilots. For this reason, professional paragliding companies employ paragliding pilots who have successfully passed all stages. This is why we recommend our customers to choose companies with corporate structures when choosing a Fethiye Ölüdeniz paragliding company. Because it is not easy to become a paragliding pilot! 😊
Now, for those who are curious, let's talk about the documents, training and stages required to become a paragliding pilot.
Paragliding THK P2 Certificate
P2 certificate, which is the starting certificate in paragliding training, is the document given by THK at the end of the training, which lasts 15-20 days, in which both theoretical training and around 20 low flights are made. During this training process, ground training, which is the most basic training, is given.
Paragliding THK P3 Certificate
P3 certificate is intermediate level paragliding training and the paragliding candidate who will participate in this training must have received the P2 certificate, then made 50 paragliding flights for 12 hours (with GPS records) and must submit these to THK.
Written and practical training is given and the location of flight training is generally Fethiye Ölüdeniz. Although the course duration varies depending on weather conditions, the average duration is 1 week.
Paragliding THK P4 Certificate
You can prove your advanced level in paragliding with the next level, P4 certification. This training is done through flights over the sea, 10 hours of flying are required and movements such as spin, wingover and spiral are performed. The course duration is again approximately 1 week.
Paragliding THK P5 Certificate
P5 certification training, which experienced pilots can handle, measures the pilot's ability to make long flights using heated air. It is required to travel at least 15 km per flight, and this training is considered to be completed successfully when 100 km is covered in a total of 5 flights.
Paragliding T1 Tandem Pilot Certificate
It is a tandem pilot certificate training provided for non-commercial double flights. There is a written exam process and pilots who pass this stage are evaluated by taking 4 double flights.
The course duration varies between 1-2 weeks and is held in Ölüdeniz.
Paragliding T2 Commercial Tandem Pilot Certificate
Those who want to do commercial tandem paragliding with tourism companies or individually, that is, those who want to be a paragliding pilot as a profession, must attend the T2 Commercial tandem pilot training and have the T2 certificate issued by THK.
This training includes written and practical exams. In practice, the pilot has the right to make a maximum of 1 mistake and is expected to make emergency actions in the air. Courses are held in Ölüdeniz for varying periods of 1-2 weeks. However, since paragliding T2 certificate courses accept quotas every 6 months, those who want to become a paragliding pilot should follow the course dates closely.
